A local woodcarver started a fashion for carved wooden crosses for graves. These are not only colourful but are often comic by intent and are fine examples of folk art.
The crosses have been shown in art exhibitions in both London and Paris and attract many visitors to the village each year. Despite this the community remains untouched by fame and continues to earn a livelihood by hand crafts and peasant farming.
